In just a few days Sibos 2016 in Geneva is set to begin! The final preparations of our exciting and informative sessions are underway.
This year, the SWIFT Institute will once again bring some of the world’s thought leaders from academia and the financial industry to share their expertise throughout the week. Our speakers will give informative Talks on a wide range of topics impacting the global financial industry, including the ABC’s – API’s, Blockchain and Cyber. Each Talk will last 30 minutes and take place in a purpose built amphitheatre on the SWIFT stand on the exhibition floor.
The SWIFT Institute is also proud to participate in a new feature to Sibos. Geneva will see each day begin with a one hour education session at 9am, aimed at providing an introduction to some of the hottest topics our industry is facing. We will begin on Monday 26th September with Blockchain 101 by Professor Michael Mainelli, founder of Z/Yen Group. The SWIFT Institute will wrap up the week on Thursday 29th with Cyber 101 by Principle Research Scientist Kalyan Veeramachaneni from MIT.
On Wednesday 28th we will showcase the winners of the inaugural SWIFT Institute University Challenge. Two university students from the UK’s Warwick Business School will present their idea on how to improve the safety, security and reliability of global remittances. Their idea is a unique one, involving near sound data technology (NSDT) combined with high-security buses. What can we learn from the millennial generation? Come along and find out.
And finally, to prove that finance and academia can be fun, we will host the second annual Sibos quiz show – A Question of Finance. Featuring two teams each consisting of both academics and bankers, it will be a battle of wits as the contestants compete on their financial and general knowledge. Taking place on Monday afternoon, the quiz show will be followed by the SWIFT cocktail reception.
